Heather Aikman

Hi!! I’m Heather Aikman, I’m a senior this year (ah!) and I’m from Glen Head, New York. I’m majoring in Engineering Studies and Geology (I happen to think it’s a great combination). This is my second year in McKelvy! When I’m at the house I can usually be found in my room tending to my indoor forest, sitting out on the porch during rain storms, or wandering around the gardens. On campus I’m a member of the Geological society (shocker), the yarn club, and the equestrian team. This year as part of R.U.M.B.L.E. I look forward to constructing volcanic eruptive histories in New Zealand, Iceland, as well as researching the impact of bubbles on explosive eruptions. Bring me rocks and I may (or may not) be able to tell you a little bit about them!

JEFREY ALEXANDER

Hello, hello, handsome people. My name is Jefrey Alexander ‘23 and I’m a psychology major with a minor in spanish. I am from all over, call me Mr. Worldwide! I was born in Segovia, Antioquia, a small town in Colombia. From there I moved to Miami, Florida, and a few years later moved to the place I now call home: Alexandria, Virginia. I’ve been living in McKelvy since the spring of ‘22, but officially became a member in the fall. This year, I’ll be Social Media Co-Chair along with Internal Community Co-Chair; the people, they just can’t get enough of me! On campus, I’m currently involved with the Speech and Debate team, work as a Psychology Lab Assistant for both Physiology II and Introduction to Psychology, and do research with Dr. Bell on the social and cognitive factors of prejudice. If you ever find yourself at McKelvy, just knock on room #25 and you’ll find me reading on my giant snorlax beanbag. The thing I’m most excited about this year is all the good food the McKelvy discussions have to offer! I’m graduating soon, no more free food…

sakib s. arnob

I am what you’d call a ‘visiting scholar’ – I don’t live in the house. Actually, I live exactly on the other end of the campus because I am a Head Resident (Sullivan Lane). But, I can often be found late at night hanging out on the balcony or in the study with my McFriends who I managed to convince to spend time with me. I am a senior, double majoring in Biology and Economics. I probably would have dropped Bio by now if not for my mom, who has insisted that I finish it–she wants to be able to brag to random people that her son is a “double major.” I find Economics much more interesting and am also working on a senior thesis related to Labor Economics. I hope to run my own fund in a few years. Can you tell that I am the resident capitalist? I have been serving as the McTreasurer since last year and am the only person in the house who knows how to file for reimbursements! I have been recently focusing a lot on high-altitude mountaineering. I appreciate life more when I am 20,000 feet in the air and my legs are trembling while I try to navigate the narrowest of ridges while out of breath.

Nada Awadalla

Heyooo! My name is Nada Awadalla, and I’m a current senior at THE house. I’m from Clifton, NJ, and this is my second year as a scholar. Currently, studying Economics and International Affairs. I love volunteering with RefAct and spend most of my free time trying to make the best memories I can with the Mc-besties. I also love reading, traveling, baking and writing to-do lists (highly recommend!!). Just like last year, you will most likely find me sipping tea at an open window and crying because that is how I debrief at the end of my days. I’m super excited for new opportunities, classes, and people this year. Also excited to eventually get out in the real world, but I know parting with my McKelvy HOME won’t be easy. If you spot me on campus or in the gardens, come say hi, I guess.

Fatimata cham

Hi, My name is Fatimata Cham (she/her). I am currently a Senior here at Lafayette College. I am originally from the Bronx, NY. I am a Senegalese and Gambian first generation American. I am double majoring in Women & Gender Studies and Government and Law. I am a 2022 Truman Scholar and 2019 Coca-Cola Scholar. I joined McKelvy in the fall of my sophomore year. On campus I currently serve as Vice-President of Student Government, a kaleidoscope social justice peer educator, Gateway Peer Advisor, President of Girl Up Lafayette, a Senior Interviewer, Co-Internal Chair for McKelvy and founding member of the Dear Lafayette Coalition. In my free time, you can find me writing poetry or making videos/tik toks about issues I care about. I also love reading autobiographies because I love learning about people’s lives, where they come from and their journeys. In Mckelvy you will most likely find me in the balcony area or in my room haha. I also love Beyonce and Burna Boy.

EVANGELINE COFFINAS

Profile photo of Evangeline CoffinasHello ! My name is Evangeline (she/her) and I’m from Somers, New York. I’m a double major in Biology and Anthropology & Sociology and have a minor in Art (I know it’s a mouthful- I’m very indecisive). Outside of classes, I enjoy drawing and making art with my friends. I’m a regular at Pottery Club and Pard Paper, and you might find me plopped down outside with a sketchbook. I’ve also been very involved in Refugee Action for two years now and currently serve as the President of Resettlement. In addition to serving a great cause, RefAct helped me find a sense of community during my remote sophomore year. It was in this same spirit that I became interested in joining the McKelvy community, and I’m very glad I did! This is my first year as an official McKelvy Scholar, though I’ve been living in the house since Spring of 2022. When the sun’s out, you can find me napping in the gardens but if it’s chilly I’ll probably be huddled up in the second floor nook working on homework or reading a book.

HELENA Koffigoh

Hi everyone! I’m Helena Koffigoh ‘23, and I’m an Int. Affairs/Econ double major with a minor in either Health, Life Sciences, and Society, or Chinese. I’m from Queens, NY, and this is my first year living in the house! I’m currently one of the co-chairs of Alumni Relations and I’m really excited to work with the other co-chair (Angela!) to plan some super fun events. On campus I’m a part of ISA, Neuroscience Club, and LEADERS club, in addition to being a Posse Scholar! In my free time you can probably find me either in my room playing video games on my PC (any Assassin’s Creed fans?), or in the chairs behind Pardee reading whatever book I managed to get my hands on this week. In the actual house, I’m most likely in my room, or in the little reading nook right outside of it on the 2nd floor. I’m really looking forward to gaining a stronger sense of community on campus and in the house this year, and am unbelievably excited to learn more about all the scholars!

Shirley liu

Hey! My name is Shirley (like the child actor or the drink) and I’m one of McKelvy’s presidents. I joined McKelvy my sophomore year, and I’ve previously been the external chair and historian of the house. I’m an English major and a philosophy minor — no, I’m not pre-law, I just enjoy the prospect of being unemployed. Aside from McKelvy, I’m also a managing editor of The Lafayette student newspaper, a member of the speech team, and a mentor WA. If you see me on campus, I’m probably running between classes and those three activities. As a senior, I’m super excited to use whatever knowledge I’ve accrued these past three years to help Lafayette students after me make this community a better place. I promise I’m friendly — talk to me anytime about a recent read that you loved (or hated), your K-pop hot takes, or why the best celebrity power couple is Simone de Beauvoir and Jean-Paul Sartre.

Charles Mirsky

Hey folks! It’s Charlie Mirsky, here. I’ve been living in McKelvy since my sophomore year, and I currently serve as co-president of the program with Shirley! Last year I ran McKelvy’s recruitment process. I’m also a History and Gov/Law double major, and am doing Excel research with Professor Peleg. I spend most of my free time imposing my musical preferences on others, listening to cringy career-related podcasts, and trying to get invited into my professors’ private lives. On weekends, you’ll either find me in Three Birds Cafe pressing buttons on my laptop or at Mesa Modern Mexican with my friends. On weekdays, I’m usually either in Skillman playing chess against myself, or alternatively, in the recreation center playing squash–against myself. You may also see me following Professors Bloom and Geoffrion-Vinci around. They didn’t invite me at first, but they’re fans now. Fun fact about me: I co-founded March For Our Lives and lived independently in the Capitol for running their federal affairs. No chicken tenders have since surpassed those in the Senate cafeteria. I’m really excited to get to know the new group of McKelvy scholars and to enjoy my time here before life gets serious again at Stanford Law School next year.

lawrence narotsky

Hey everyone, I’m Lawrence Narotsky. I’m a senior majoring in Psychology with a minor in Gov/Law. I’ve been in the house since my junior year, and love spending time with everyone in the house, listening to music, boxing, fishing, and driving around. In the future, I plan to be a practicing psychiatrist who also does relevant field-related research. I’m looking forward to spending more time with my friends at McKelvy and Lafayette as a whole.

Anastacia (CIA) Negron

Hi everyone! My name is Cia (she/her) and I’m a senior from Norwalk, CT double majoring in Anthropology & Sociology and Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies. This is my second year in McKelvy and I’m Co-Recruitment Chair with Youmin and Eva. On campus, I am a LEO, Senior Interviewer and Co-Director of Onboarding for Ambassadors of Lafayette, and an EXCEL Scholar for the Queer Archives Project. I am also very passionate about the arts and involved with the Mar-Keys Acapella group, Marquis Players, and an Arts Houser. In my free time (which is very rare), I love to spend time with my friends listening to music, eating amazing food, and making good memories. Last semester, I studied abroad in Athens, Greece which I absolutely loved, so please bring it up if you have any questions! I am looking forward to being back on campus for my senior year and can’t wait to spend more time with all the scholars!
