Woke up to our friend the deer sunning himself on the lawn on a beautiful clear and cold morning. The farmers’ market was hopping if a bit windy!
The intrepid McKelvyites plus alum Colin hit Route 22 this afternoon for some off-road adventures and leaf peeping at Trexler Nature Preserve and the Lehigh Valley Zoo, organized by trip planner extraordinaire Erin. Lorikeets were wooed, and the new wolves strutted their stuff. Kyle was convinced to pose not once but twice. The lemurs were cute, but the lynx won my heart. We ate some animal crackers to get in the mood, and capped it off with a beautiful autumn drive through the preserve and double cheeseburgers and fries on the way home. For some reason, I couldn’t convince the troops to see Footloose with me. A generational thing?
Fantastic upcoming events: French-themed mystery dinner with French Club this Friday, and a scarecrow fest with Quidditch Club this Saturday. One mysterious and genuinely spooky scarecrow has already set up camp on the front stairs. Kyle and Liang will lead Discussion on religion tomorrow for the regular crew plus friends and a special guest alum. Never a dull moment at McKelvy in the fall!
