carter branD

Hello! I’m Carter Brand, a junior biochemistry major and returning scholar from Denver, Colorado. At day you’ll find me synthesizing peptides, researching neurotransmitters, and enjoying a coffee somewhere on campus. At night you’ll find me developing new hobbies such as rock climbing or badminton, hanging out with friends, or working hard at the library. As a junior, I am excited to deepen my relationships on campus and begin looking outward to my future.

angela busheska

I’m Angela Busheska (she/her), coming from North Macedonia and I’ve been living in McKelvy since my sophomore year. I am pursuing a double degree in Electrical Engineering & Computer Science, and I’m passionate about utilizing the power of tech for social good and bringing diverse voices to STEM. On campus, I am doing research in brain-computer interface, I am an MSG Leader for Physics 133 & a CITLS Student Fellow. The majority of my time, however, is dedicated to climate activism. At 18, I started a non-profit organization that helps people reduce their carbon emissions, and in the past three years, our work has been recognized by Forbes, United Nations, Nico Rosberg & Shawn Mendes, among others.

You can find me around Rockwell or wondering why my code is not working in Acopian. At McKelvy, nothing beats my midnights at the study. So excited about all the late-night conversations on how to change the world with my fellow McKelvy-ites.

Tessa Giardi

Hey hey hey! I’m Tessa Giardi (she/her), and I’m a junior Government & Law and English double major. I hail from Millis, Massachusetts, a small town outside of Boston, and firmly believe that MA is the superior state (Giardi for Governor!). I transferred to Lafayette from Skidmore College in the middle of my sophomore year, so while I may be a junior, I still feel like a first year. On campus, I do EXCEL research for Professor Murphy in the govt law department, and am a center-fielder on the club softball team. This year, I am hoping to get involved on campus more. I recently joined three government-related clubs so I’m on my way. I hope to study abroad in London next semester, and catch every West End show I can! In my free time, I’ve been known to craft it up, watch my favorite movies over and over again (Sandlot, anyone?), and blast some showtunes. In the house, you can often find me studying on the second floor in my unofficial official assigned seat. Please stop and say hi. I can’t wait to be an active part of this community!

colin o’shea

Hello! My name is Colin O’Shea (he/him) and I’m a junior here at McKelvy, which I joined in 2022. I’m from Brooklyn, New York. I’m a Government and Law major, with a minor in A&S. I love talking about the Mets, running, and anything comic book related. On campus, I am part of Kaleidoscope and work as a NASPA-certified peer-educator for social justice issues on campus, which I have done since I was a sophomore. Around campus, you’ll most likely find me in the library or at the rec center. But at McKelvy, my favorite spot to hang out is the garden in the backyard!

shreya suresh

Hi everyone, I’m Shreya Suresh (she/her), a junior Neuroscience major and Music minor. This is my second year as a McKelvy Scholar and I thoroughly enjoy being part of this wonderful community. On campus, I’m involved with Neuroscience Research, MOSAIC, Pre-Orientation Service Program (POSP), the Equestrian team, Stress Less, Food Recovery Network, Neuroscience Resource Team, and I’m music director of the Mar-Keys A Cappella group. My favorite hang out spot in the house is the living room/discussion room, and I hope to spend my rare free time there playing Catan/Wii with everyone. I can personally attest that Professor Cohen is on his way to becoming the best Wii Sports Bowler of all time. I’m super excited for all of the incredible new McKelvy-ites to find their footing and thrive as part of the community this year!

eva vogt

Hi everyone! I’m Eva Mei Vogt (she/hers), the Resident Advisor of McKelvy House. This is my 2nd year as a scholar, and I am super excited to share in my academic journey with our McCommunity! I am a junior Neuroscience major and Women’s, Gender, & Sexualities minor currently on the Pre-Med Track. I’m from Monongahela, Pennsylvania—but on campus, you can regularly find me in Skillman Café ordering a much needed pick me up after: conducting research as a Bergh Scholar with Dr. Hallock from the Neuroscience Department, creating supportive materials for Organic Chemistry as a Supplemental Instructor with the Academic Resource Hub, or  curating events and outreach initiatives for Refugee Action Club as co-president. I enjoy lifting at the Kirby Gym, finding good-eats in Downtown Easton, and reading/listening to podcasts in the McKelvy Gardens. My hobbies include water-color painting, walks in nature, and spending quality time with friends. If you ever see me around please feel free to say hi–I love getting to meet new people and having great conversations.

Ronnie Ward

Hey ya’ll! My name is Ronnie Ward (she/her), I’m from Montgomery County, Maryland, and I’m a junior, Leo Sun, Gemini Rising, Taurus Moon, and a new McKelvy Scholar this year! I am a Government and Law and Theater double major. On campus, I am a Resident Advisor, a Posse Scholar, a Kaleidoscope peer educator, a Writing Associate, a GovLab research assistant, and, some would say, a Theater kid. In my free time, if I’m not running lines, I enjoy singing and writing songs, hanging out with friends, and taking pictures to fill up my Polaroid wall! I haven’t spent much time in the house yet but, you’d most likely find me in the garden hammock or snacking in the living room. When I’m not home cuddling with my stuffed animals, you can usually find me at the gym (if you wake up early enough to catch me) or Lower Farinon. I’d like to think I’m being productive but I’m most likely socializing. This year I’m excited to join the McKelvy community and take a more active role in our weekly discussions!
