Hello everyone! My name is Giselle (she/her) and I am a class of 2029 student studying Biochemistry here at Lafayette College. Most importantly, I am an international student from Mongolia and McKelvy has become my second home. I am currently working as a Teaching Assistant for CHEM107 Laboratory class and maybe I am (or was) your TA?! Some clubs I am a part of are ISA, ACA, and Lafayette Sustainability and I hope you can join me too. Fun fact about me is that I love doing nail art, cross stitching, knitting, crocheting, basically anything that involves making something with my own hand. I am also an executive for McKelvy Food and Garden + we have an amazing garden/backyard please come and check it out!

Hannah cohen

Hey y’all!! My name is Hannah Cohen (she, her), and I’m a sophomore Government & Law and Music double major from Bergen County, NJ. I would say 80% of my personhood is consumed by music in some way, but I also love local advocacy, debating, Kathak dance, and I have an affinity for legalese! (It’s like a whole new language that I need to be fluent in). On campus, you can catch me in Soulfege as their music director or at the Combating Human Trafficking Initiative as President. I’m also a speecher in Lafayette Forensics, and a campaigner for Mark Pinsley in PA. And maybe you can catch me in LIMS with a band jam sesh on trumpet, flute, guitar, piano, or voice! I am so excited to join McKelvy Scholars this fall – Sunday discussions feel as nostalgic as my own big family back home, where we converse, argue, and ultimately learn so much from each other. I can’t wait to have that family energy here as well! If I’m off the clock, you’ll find me in Lav Lane chilling on a beanbag watching my FAV Disney movie Princess in the Frog, or whatever’s on. Feel free to visit me anytime (I just got a sick bench for my room).

Wonhee CHoi

Hi everyone! My name is Wonhee Choi (she/her), and I’m a sophomore studying Physics and Math. I’m an international student from South Korea, and I’m excited to be spending another year here at Lafayette! On campus, you can usually find me studying somewhere on campus (usually in the library basement or one of my favorite secret spots), working on problems in Math Club, or helping out with the Astronomy Club! Feel free to stop by if you see me watching something through a telescope! Outside of academics, I love listening to indie music, reading books, watching movies (I especially love kind of depressing movies, and I strongly recommend Decision to Leave. It used to be my number-one movie before The Odyssey), and learning new things. I’m also into fashion, so I enjoy watching runway shows on youtube and mixing and matching my clothes. This might be related to academics, but I love solving and proving math problems, so if you ever find an interesting question or need help with math, please feel free to show it to m. I’m super excited to be part of McKelvy Scholars this year and to get to know everyone in the community. I feel like everyone here is so special – everyone has their own uniqueness and perspectives. I’m looking forward to all the Sunday discussions and events!! ><

Hey everybody, I’m Bismark (or Biz, Bizzy, not Mark though). I’m a sophomore on the pre-law track pursuing a Government and Law major and a psychology minor.  I am from the best city in the world (New York City) and the proud son of Ghanaian parents. This is my first year here at the program, super psyched to be here. On campus, I’m involved in a fair amount of things. I’m the event manager, I’m a Kaleidoscope peer educator, I am part of the Lafayette activist forum, the LEO program, I’m on the real estate club, DCF the club wrestling team, and a bunch of intramural sports. If I’m ever free (which feels like never), I love watching and critiquing a good tv show, reading a good book, or playing on my Switch! Feel free to say wassup to me on campus!!

Keira-Lynn Fomene

Hi! My name is Keira-Lynn Fomene, I am a Government & Law and Philosophy dual major. I am from DC. I love music, fashion, and travel and I am always down to try different restaurants! At Lafayette I am apart of Kalidescope, Posse, the writing associates program, women in law & econ, and nia sisterhood! I look forward to all the wonderful discussions to come at McKelvy and my first year in the house!!!

 

clovis-Lato Noupoyou Nkamga

Hi everyone! I’m Clovis‑Lato Nkamga, a Biology and Anthropology & Sociology major with a minor in Biotechnology, and yes, I can move both eyebrows up and down individually, which makes for a pretty solid party trick. I am a huge Sci‑Fi fan, love trying new activities, and really enjoy spending time with friends. On campus, I stay busy as a McKelvy and Posse Scholar, a Student Government member, the FSL Social Media manager, an Eco‑Rep, a BIO111L TA, a Kaleidoscope participant, a Lafayette Pre‑Dental Society member, the Leopards at Nite treasurer, an Acapella singer, a Lafayette Democrats member, a Student Alumni Council rep, a Landis Pax Partner, a Gen X member, and a Pre‑Health Professions Society member. I am beyond excited to be in McKelvy because I get to live alongside such inspiring, like‑minded people, and honestly, having a place to finally iron my jeans makes it feel just like home. When I am not busy, you will find me relaxing outside or hanging out with fellow scholars in the house.

Nolan sirgany

Hi! I am Nolan Sirgany (he/him), I am a sophomore chemistry major with a Spanish minor. I am from good old Binghamton, NY. On campus I am involved in club tennis, club spikeball, LIME,  the concert band, LANDIS mosaic programs, atmospheric chemistry research, and am an RA. McKelvy is such a cool and unique community on campus, stop by whenever you can!

 

daniel (Siyang) wan

Hi everyone! I am Daniel (Siyang) Wan, planning to do a Math Econ double major with a Data Science minor. I am from Guangzhou, China, and it’s my second year at Lafayette! This year, I am serving as ACA treasurer, ISA secretary, a Shep Team member of DCF, a LIME Scholar, an FA at the gym, and a MSG leader for CS 110. A big shoutout to all these incredible teams! I am also a classical guitar lover, so you might sometimes catch me plucking strings around the McKelvy House or the McKelvy Garden! Soccer (the real football) and basketball are sports I enjoy as someone with the zodiac sign of the Dog. And last but not least, I am one of the Recruitment Chairs for the new class. What I like most about McKelvy, other than the people, which is guaranteed, is the House itself. It is such a storied and classic mansion that makes me feel calm and welcomed when studying or chatting here. Looking forward to seeing all you guys here!
